Breguet the Genius' Masterpieces of the Ottoman Clocks are in the Topkapı Palace

June 2th 2010 - August 30th 2010

Collections of the Topkapi Palace Museum and th Breguet Museum are meeting for the first time at the Istanbul European Capital of Culture."Ottoman Collection" of legendary Breguet clocks that ornaments the Ottoman and European Palaces are being exhibited for the first time at the Topkapı Palace Museum. , there is the clock known as the masterpiece of the world clocks named "Pendule Sympathique" among the masterpieces of the exhibition. Also in the exhibiton, there is the Sultan Portraits of the period and letters written between Seyid Ali Efendi who is the first Paris ambassador and Breguet.

The exhibition that will be opened at the Divit Room at June 2th 2010 will be continue until August 30th 2010

A.L. Breguet who is known with his important inventions beside his artistic technique and stem winders, has the Tourbillon mechanism among his most important inventions .That mechanism guarantees the highest sensitivity setting in mechanic clocks by avoiding setting errors that can be occured at different positions (because of the gravity) .

Breguet clocks that has a past for nearly two hundred and fifty years that ornaments the Ottoman Palaces since  the19th century has labeled the history with combination of a  marvellous brilliance of creativity with the luxury and elegance.

The Breguet clocks that has met with many important figures like Selim III the Ottoman Sultan , Mahmud II the Ottoman Sultan , Napoleon Bonaparte , Marie-Antoniette the Queen of France , Russian Czar Alexander , Queen Victoria and Sir Winston Churchill has been mentioned to the books of the writers like Balzac and Pushkin and the works of art that projects the period.

Exhibiton is being organized with contributions of the Tektaş A.Ş. which is the Distributor of Breguet in Turkey.
